What is the Construction Prohibition?

Ensuring Sustainable Tourism in Turkey – No heavy-duty works from May 15th to October 15th

In 2015, the Construction Prohibition Circular of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was created, with the aim of making tourism in Turkey sustainable and turning it into a permanent brand. Since then this rule has been enforced on a yearly basis, implemented in various tourism regions, starting on May 15th and continuing until October 15.

The Construction Ban means heavy-duty works, such as excavations and mortar mixing, will not be allowed during this time frame. Minor repair works can still be done without disturbing the environment. Those who wish to do infrastructure works need to get the approval of the relevant institutions during this period, otherwise, they would be subject to penalties.

The Construction Ban is placed to ensure the sustainability and protection of our tourism sector across the country. Heavily populated and tourist areas are best left to enjoy by visitors instead of construction workers. Thus, by implementing this ban, the safety of the citizens is also secured during this season. Moreover, this ban is beneficial for all those who wish to visit these areas and see the value being kept intact.
