One of the Mediterranean’s Main Sea Turtle Nesting Beaches is in Turkey
When most people think of sea turtle nesting areas, they typically imagine the Caribbean, Central America, or South America. However, an often overlooked nesting area can also be found in Turkey. Located just outside of Fethiye, Iztuzu Beach is home to an endangered species of loggerhead turtles. Between May and October each year, more than 300 nests appear on the beach, making it a popular spot for conservation and tourism. This unique area allows visitors to observe the turtles in their natural habitat without disrupting them. Despite the named beach, along the whole coast of Turkey you can find tutrle nests along the beach. This incredible beach is a special opportunity to witness the beauty of nature and to experience the unique wildlife of Turkey.
